Weekly Roundup – 2010 In Review Edition

If you’re anything like us, today you’re unwinding from the holiday, sitting around with family, and most importantly, playing some games. It could be D&D, Gamma World, or maybe just a board game like Dixit. At any rate, the end of the year draws nigh, so we thought we’d dip into the 2010 archives of some of our favorite blogs.  No summaries this time because the list is longer than normal.  We’ll let the article titles speak for themselves. (Blogs with more than one author may get more than one mention…)

Thanks for the shout out. It’s always a thrill to see one (or in this case three) of our articles included in your round-up. We put out a lot of 4e D&D stuff over the year and we’re never sure what will find an audience and what will not. We owe a lot to sites like yours that scour the blogsphere and highlight what you like best in a given week, month, or year. By shining a spotlight on the stuff you like best, sites like ours can reach more gamers with similar tastes and interests. It also lets us know that we’re hitting the mark (at least some of the time). Here’s to a great 2011. Thanks again.

Despite my blog being primarily about Dark Sun, by far the most popular of my blogs was the one pulling together Gamma World resources. That had more than 3100 hits, which is just under ten times what my Dark Sun blogs usually garner. People love tools and having links appear on other blogs is a huge source of hits. It is always a hard balance between wanting people to gain utility from what I write and just being able to blog about whatever is of interest to me.

I definitely agree with you. While this blog hasn’t been around long, sometimes I’m a little disheartened that something I have an attachment to doesn’t get as much attention as something that is probably more useful. It’s like you said, “balance.”
